How do you achieve better R-Value?
Post Frame construction has few framing members that extend from the inside face of the wall to the exterior of the wall, that doesn't have a thermal barrier in the middle. By limiting the mount of material that extends through the entire wall cavity, there is less thermal bridging that can occur. This reduction in thermal bridging, will create a more efficient design. Also wider wall cavities, allow a greater amount of insulation for an even higher R-Value rating in your walls.
Do all buildings have to have steel siding?
Barndominiums have the flexibility to utilize a wide variety of siding options. Guests often choose to use several different siding options and colors to truly customize their building.
Are interior bearing walls needed on post frame buildings?
Post frame buildings are designed for the entire roof load to be transferred to the eave walls of the building. This eliminates any interior load bearing walls and gives you greater flexibility planning your interior room and wall layout.
Are engineered stamped prints available for barndominiums?
Stamped prints can be purchased in advance for areas requiring engineering approval before building materials are ordered. Engineering fees are priced based on the scope of the project. Your print fee can be quoted by our design team upon request.
Do I need to purchase materials from Midwest Manufacturing if I purchase engineering?
Yes, barndominiums would require the major structural components to be purchased from Midwest Manufacturing.
